Positive: The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. Staff helped us unload and load luggage and had it ready in our room. The room had all the amenities you need and had yukatas for our whole family. Glad to have booked the room with a private onsen as it was accessible at any time, highly recommended. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. They even prepared a separate kid's meal for my daughter. There were some shops to explore in the area, and it was extremely easy to get back on the road from this ryokan.

Positive: First of all, the staff are amazing. They were so attentive to my requests and prompt when responding to them. I had not booked my bus ticket to Kurokawa Onsen yet and they waited patiently till I responded so that a pick up could be arranged once I arrived. Special shoutout to Ume-san who served me during the duration of my stay. My meals were served in my room and she was so hospitable and friendly. She made sure that I knew what I was eating and made sure that any questions or requests were responded to as quickly as possible. It made me feel really welcomed and right at home! (Hontoni arigato gonzaimasu Ume-san!) I totally enjoyed the public baths - the indoor and outdoor ones were the right temperature and my skin felt amazing after. The meals were meticulously prepared too - thank you Chef Imamura-san for meticulously preparing each dish and introducing new flavours and textures to me. Overall, I would recommend this place to anybody looking to feel Japanese spirit and service - from service, food, bath and just the whole atmosphere, it was a trip that I will never forget. I hope to come back again soon.

Positive: Room is very spacious and antique. The onsen is really open yet still private. The food is definitely above average! (A understatement probably.) The staffs are polite.

Negative: Since the room is antique and hotel is located in mountains, some bugs are expected.

Negative: Nothing it was as expected In general the acces to the accommodation(s) through the narrow streets should be better guided. and adressed so you know what to expect We were puzzled when we approached the accommodation if we were allowed to drive in the narrow street and if it was not a one way street. Basically it is so narrow only one car can fit but it’s used for two directions which can get you in a difficult position. Wakaba is luckily at the beginning of the street depending where you enter with your car.
